Farewell Outgoing VCCI President Tom Bayer

The Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry sincerely thanked and congratulated the outgoing VCCI President Thomas Bayer for his leadership, dedication and contribution to develop and maintain the VCCI in Vanuatu from 2014 to 2018, at its Council Meeting on Thursday 13th December 2018.

VCCI and VCCI Council took the opportunity to farewell outgoing VCCI President Thomas Bayer with a gift on this occasion as a token of appreciation. Thomas Bayer will stay in the VCCI Council as the Finance Councillor.

The new VCCI President is Shaun Gilchrist, who is the Manufacturing Councillor in the VCCI Council. VCCI welcomes the new VCCI President Shaun Gilchrist to lead the VCCI Council and the VCCI in the new strategic direction and restructuring in 2019.

Small Business Quality Innovation Workshop

“Improvement of Quality Products to enhance Trade Development”

Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) through its Business Development Service (BDS) Unit have just completed a very successful quality innovation workshop in Luganville, Santo.

The workshop was fully funded by Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) program. This workshop was a new initiative and was tailored and delivered specifically to the small businesses within Sanma Province.

Sectors represented in this workshop in small businesses were Tourism, Agriculture and Construction and Joinery. Topics discussed were in detailed on the detail on quality products and quality innovation and understanding the concept the higher and better the product is, the high chance it to compete in the in the business market.

Reminder Call from Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand for Candidates for Trade Mission to New Zealand in 2019

This is a reminder that the Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand PTI (NZ) are into the planning stage for the Pasifika trade mission to NZ which will be scheduled in early 2019 during the trade show of Pasifika Festival 2019 from 23rd to 24th March 2019.

At this stage, PTI (NZ) is looking for prospective businesses that may be interested in participating to this event.

The broad criteria for participation in the trade mission is

1. The company has attended a Path to Market workshop
2. They have products ready for sale – retail packs and not bulk commodities
3. They are able to travel to NZ for up to 7 days
4. They can provide enough product for sale at the event.
5. They have been recommended by VCCI in conjunction with PTI(NZ)

Stellar Year 2018 for Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Having facilitated seven trade deals of more than $12 million and seven investment deals worth more than $12 million, 2018 has been a stellar year for Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand Commissioner Michael Greenslade (pictured right).

“It’s a record result which is not only higher than ever, it shows the success of the Path to Market,” says Michael, speaking as host of the organisation’s Christmas gathering on December 7 at its Newmarket offices in Auckland.

“It has been building momentum over the years to the stage where we’ve managed to fully meet our KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for the fourth year in a row.”

Michael attributes a large part of the growth to being able capture and retain useful network data, which is far more effective than the paper-based system they relied on.

Second Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand Business Intel Survey Quarter 4-2018


Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand is pleased to announce the second Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand Business Intel Survey focusing on key economic themes of interest to Pacific businesses. This survey is for the final quarter of 2018. The first survey, published in October, was for the July-September quarter, 2018.

The quarterly survey gauges activity across the Pacific Islands Forum countries with feedback received from a range of business stakeholders around the region each quarter.

The aim of the survey is to help inform businesses and policy makers on economic trends by providing timely gauges of economic momentum and expectations for growth, employment and investment going forward.
