Reminder Setting up of a Recycling And Waste Management Association in Vanuatu

During a recent visit to Vanuatu by SPREP Samoa discussions were held with representatives from the private sector about the possibility of forming a Recycling and Waste Management Association. A formal meeting between VCCI members and SPREP has been requested to be facilitated on Tuesday 19 March 2019 at 3pm at VCCI conference room.

SPREP has been tasked, under the Japan Technical Cooperation Project on Promotion of Regional Initiatives on Solid Waste Management in Pacific Island Countries (JPRISM II), to promote the setting up of such organisations in the Pacific. The primary purpose of a Recycling and Waste Management Association is to strengthen the capacity of recycling operations as well as supporting and promoting good practices and initiatives already utilized by the Private Sector.

Reminder to participate in the Vanuatu Salary Survey 2018/2019 for businesses

In its second edition, the objective of this survey is to provide comprehensive information on remuneration market trends in Vanuatu. This will assist participating organisations in making informed remuneration-related decisions. In addition, it provides a means of comparing individual remuneration rates to your market.

All participating organisations will receive a free copy of the 2018/19 Vanuatu Salary Survey Report in PDF format. The deadline for submission is Friday 22 March 2019.

Reminder Australia Awards 2020 Intake

Applications for the Australia Awards Scholarships 2020 intake are now open. These prestigious scholarships provide recipients with the chance to experience study and life in Australia or the Pacific region, building strong links with Australian and Pacific Island people and organisations. Applicants will be selected on the basis of academic competence, professional and personal leadership attributes and potential to contribute to development in Vanuatu.

To apply: Eligibility requirements and information on how to apply is available on the Australia Awards Vanuatu website: www.australiaawardsvanuatu.org. Please read all information carefully before completing your application. Application dates for study commencing in 2020. Opening date: 01 March 2019. Closing date: 31 March 2019. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council Elections 2019

8 seats on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council are coming up for election at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 30th April 2019.

If you are a business license holder now is your chance to step up for candidacy to help strengthen the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to better serve the Private Sector, and to boost Private Sector development to enhance national economic growth.

The Chamber is entering a new phase and is currently working on strengthening its core services and abilities to support Ni Vanuatu businesses grow and prosper. We are looking for energized and committed new members from the business community, who truly represent the face of business here in Vanuatu.
Now is the time to get involved. Every business license holder in Vanuatu is an automatic member of the Chamber and every member has voting rights for the elections.

The 8 seats that must be filled this year’s Annual General Meeting are:
o 2 representatives of the tourism industry
o 2 representatives of the financial and commercial services industry
o 2 representatives of small businesses
o 1 representative of larger businesses
o 1 representative of the shipping industry
