Labour Work Permits Consultation Meeting update

As all businesses would be aware a consultation meeting on the Labour Work Permits Amendment Act No. 24 of 2018 was held on 4 February 2019 at 3.30pm at Ramada Resort Conference Room, between VCCI, its members and the Department of Labour.

Over 120 business representatives were in attendance, as well as the Labour Commissioner Mrs Muriel Metsan Meltenoven, the Deputy Commissioner Mr Herve Kasten and the Labour Department’s legal counsel Mr Clifton Rau.

Small Business Development Bill Consultation Meeting postponed until further notice

As business owners we would like to make you aware of a proposed new
Small Business Development Bill, drafted by the Cooperatives Department, to establish a Small Business Development Department under the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

VCCI is currently in the process of arranging a Consultation Meeting between the Cooperatives Department, VCCI and business members. A date and venue is yet to be confirmed by the Cooperatives Department.

PTI Australia Digital Trade Workshop for Businesses

All businesses are invited to attend the PTI AUSTRALIA DIGITAL TRADE WORKSHOP to be held on Friday 1 March 2019 at the Conference Room, Melanesian Hotel from 8.30am to 11.30am. Bookings are essential.

E-commerce refers to buying or selling products and services using the internet. It opens exciting opportunities for businesses in Vanuatu to connect with international markets and is becoming an important way for businesses in the Pacific Islands to trade with the rest of world.

The PTI Australia Digital trade workshop will focus on the e-trade platform – Amazon Australia. The session will be taken by Peter Nobbs, Coach AMZ, an Amazon expert who specialises in helping businesses and entrepreneurs to launch on Amazon Australia.

Invitation to Fish 2.0 Regional Innovators Forum in Brisbane

The first-ever Fish 2.0 Regional Innovators Forum for sustainable seafood will take place on April 2-3 in Brisbane.

The forum will feature three expert panels with facilitated discussions and debates around key issues and opportunities to grow the value and trade of seafood in the region, including innovative investment strategies, game-changing innovations from the region which are commercially ready, and regional trade of novel seafood products. In between these panel discussions, attendees will hear pitches from a range of seafood innovators from Australia and the Pacific Islands and have plenty of time to network and meet one another.

If you are a growing seafood business, then you may also apply to the special one-day workshop on April 2. You will learn how to effectively work with investors and partners to grow your business – and then have a chance to pitch your business at the Forum on April 3.
